Goleta’s Anastasia Brunner played on the championship 12-under all-star team at the USA Softball All-American Games in Oklahoma City, Aug. 13-15.
Brunner was a member of the Region 10 squad that represented the Pacific Coast region in the 10-team national tournament at the Hall of Fame Stadium, the venue for the NCAA College Softball World Series. The Region 10 team was composed of select players from California, Nevada, Arizona and Hawaii. Brunner was one of two players from the Central California area named to the elite team after a tryout in February.
She represented the Goleta Valley Girls Softball Association on the region team.
The Region 10 team went 7-0 in the tournament and defeated the Region 5 Freedom for the gold medal. The Region 5 players were from New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.
The All-American Games Tournament title capped off a successful summer for Brunner and for local softball. She was also a key player for the Goleta Thunder 12U team that captured the USA Softball Western Nationals Championship.
Anastasia is the daughter of former standout Dos Pueblos High athlete Beau Brunner.
